WOYWW #56

So you wanna know whats in the boxes eh? You are a nosey lot!  Ok then are you ready for this:

this is a work in progress and so is empty! well apart from the bits of card that I cut from the original 12"x12" sheet just in case I need matching tags!

This is a noteset that I made in a workshop a few weeks ago - contains thank you cards.

Again another work in progress as it needs a "thing" in the middle just not sure what the "thing" is yet (will probably be a tag!) and in this box I keep a flower disaster (to remind me not to make a flower using acetate glued onto card - it doesn't work!), my flower necklace that I have made but am too embarassed to wear and a few other flowers that I will use one day.

My bia box that contains absolutely nothing! if you can think of anything I can store in there let me know!

My box made from our crop kit contains my alcohol inks!  Dont have many do I :(

Another work in progress as I am not sure what to do with this just yet (by that I mean should I paint it, ink it or cover it in papers?) and inside the bigger one is the smaller one! which contains nothing, but has been gessoed!
And last but not least (as its my fav!) is my suitcase box, which may be turned into a class holding a travel book at our weekend crop in August - watch this space!, and in this is a pile of flowers and tags!  Glad I looked now as I wondered where I had put them!

And if you have stayed with me this far then this is what my desk looks like today:

Not much has changed as I dont think I have sat at my desk and made anything this week!  Had our crop last Sunday so I made a card there and other than that I have been busy organising the school summer fayre which is this Saturday (wish me luck!).  So a few things have been moved and a pile of bits added so its a little bit messy but only messy in the fact that I have dumped stuff on there its not a creative mess!
Thanks for looking :) I will try and get round to as many desks as I can but it is summer fayre week so its all a bit manic here!

Have waited so long for this day!

Its Lego Harry Potter release day! whoo hoo we are very excited in my house (well I am anyway!) have preordered this and am hoping that the lovely postman delivers it later today as it has already been despatched from Tescos. Guess what I will be doing later if it arrives? actually I say that but I have a poorly little Benny Button home today :( he got sent home from school yesterday at 11.00am (on my play day - what does he think he is up to?) with a poorly tummy, but thing is when children are poorly they arent allowed to the play Xbox! oh no thats a banned item in our house if you are ill - you are allowed to watch television and do quiet things but no gaming. Oh dear - what is a girl to do??? might have to "bend" the rules, after all he is poorly and needs comforting and as school sent him home he cant be pulling a fast one - can he??

Also due to be delivered (according a nice little email I received yesterday) are my sizzix texture plates - lets hope I get those today too!

Inspired by the flowers made here: http://yoursartfully.blogspot.com/2010/06/woyww_23.html I made this yesterday:

My woven material is going to fray like anything as I didnt put a backing on it but it has set me in motion and I am going to make some more today out of organza - what fun!

Thanks for looking :)

Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday

Ok here is my desk after a weeks crafting in my room - I took this last night so that I could upload it this morning!  its a little bit messier but to be honest still quite tidy for me!  The blue bin on the desk is from poundland - one of my better buys there as it folds down and can be taken anywhere with you whether you move around the house or go to a crop!  And you can see a sneaky peek of some Martha Stewart Punches, handmade boxes and a handmade card (which has one of my new lovely Hanglars on! whoo hooo).  The wet wipes and kitchen roll are just necessities that I cant craft without and the little pile of cardstock on the really useful box is actually rubbish but I just cant let go yet - you know just in case it might come in useful (havent dared showed you all the papers/cardstock piled up opposite my desk on the other side of the room yet either!).  Yep I am hoarder when it comes to bits of paper.

At the back of the desk are all my ribbons stored on pegs - very cute if I say so myself! and also just on the right to the front is my new pile of stamps that I am currently using (I say using I still havent opened six of them yet! but hopefully will be having a play day tomorrow so that can be remedied!).

Two more cards

I have been busy playing with one of my new Hanglar stamps - here is the boy sitting on a lovely parcel that he is eagerly waiting to surprise someone with.  Other stamps used are a Prima butterfly and a Studio G alphabet.  Flowers are Prima apart from the black one which is made using a Tim Holtz tattered flower die and the scroll is a Tim Holtz sizzix one too.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
http://www.cinspirations.blogspot.com/ whose theme is one for the boys

Then this is the card that I made for my Dad on Father Day:
Papers are Daddy O and the stamps are Tim Holtz and Making Memories.  This card is based on the sketch at http://www.sweetsketchwednesday.blogspot.com/ so I would like to enter it into their challenge.

Lots of lovely new stuff!

So here is the box of goodies of all the stuff I have just treated myself to with my birthday money - can you see the lovely little (well actually quite big) Hanglars there in the bottom left hand corner? whoo hoo, and I have also had four new Lili of the Valleys (still not properly played with the three that I bought in November yet either!)
Decided to treat myself to the metal bits (they were on sale) and glimmer mist colour kit as I have always fancied them but couldn't justify the cost but as it was my birthday (did I mention that?) I thought I deserved a special treat!  Crafty Individual stamps came yesterday and I still haven't opened them yet!  Did have a dinner party yesterday night though and nipped out into town in the day so I think I should be excused!

Here is a tag I have made this week though with the lovely new Tim Holtz stamps you can see in the box too - took me ages - the tag and stamping was done in about 10 mins but then I made a yellow flower (left to dry overnight) and it looked too garish, so then I made an aged mahogany flower (like the one used) which took another night, then I wasn't really sure whether I liked the look or not so I made a black one (thinking it would give a nice strong constrast) but it looked truly dreadful, so I reverted back to the aged mahogany one which I then managed to tear when squishing down so I had to make another one!  Ho hum no wonder it takes me hours to make anything!  Anyway am happy with it now - particularly the fluffy thread - I haven't used fluffy thread on a tag since it was in vogue about 6 years ago, lately I just use hemp (because its fab!) but I got the above fibres in my box of goodies from Craft Obsessions so I decided to use it (although I do already have a boxful hoarded from years ago too!).

And finally, when we were at Alton Towers during the half term I saw this and decided to treat myself to him - will hang him from my bucket and hopefully he will bring me lots of creativity and inspiration!  Isn't he lovely although he hasn't got a name yet (I did think about calling him Oscar but OH named our first chilli that and we have since eaten him so I haven't got the heart to call this one the same name).  If you have any ideas let me know!
Thanks for looking :)

I have some hanglars!!! whoo hoo

Very exciting package arrived today - this little bundle turned up on my doorstep!

Dont you just love birthday treats!
Am now not sure whether to watch the boys in white kick that little ball around or do some stamping!  what a dilemma.

Fathers Day

Have made a couple of cards following some sketches.  This one is for Daddy for Father's Day:

and I would like to enter it into the www.create4fun-challenge.blogspot.com/ challenge as I have used their sketch this week.

And this one is for my Father In Law - I have no idea what he will think about having a pirate on his card but it's what I fancied making!  I would like to enter this one into the http://www.sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/ challenge as I have followed their sketch:

Both cards have been kept really quite simple as they are for men - neither of whom I know will keep them so they will probably just end up in the bin!  Might have to have a word with OH's Mom though and rescue that pirate flower back!

Sorry Dad but I won't be posting yours until after you have received it so you can't get a sneaky peek beforehand!

And also how addictive is WOYWW???  Have spent a good two hours this morning looking at almost everyone's fabulous workspaces and thanks to everyone who has commented on mine - it's now looking slightly messier than yesterday as I have just finished the above two cards but hopefully by next week I will be back on track and working in utter chaos!!  Off to check the rest of the workspaces now.....

Thanks for looking.

Whats on your workdesk Wednesday

I have been following a few of these blogs for about a month now - haven't gotten around to joining in as I have mainly been crafting on my dining room table which has a garish map cover on and I thought the photos would be too naf - plus I am a messy crafter so I thought I would have a good tidy up and start putting all my stash back into my craft room and start making stuff up here instead (its been awhile as I now have to share the craft room with my OH three days a week as he works from home) - so anyway here is what I have been doing this week:

This is actually a very tidy desk for me!  there are two cards on my pull out desk which arent quite finished but are for two sketches I found on challenge sites - by the time I finish my cards though the challenges are usually over!  Come back next week when I am sure a bit more clutter will have been added to the chaos!
Thanks for looking :)

Yet another box

A couple of weeks ago I tried out one of these handmade boxes using the bind it all.  I have to say they are extremely easy to make - a lot simpler than a lot of the ones I usually make!

Here is the top:

Flowers are Prima and not handmade for once! although all the leaves are cut using punches.  Key is from a sizzix Alteration die and is loosely fixed on top of the box, gems were in the sale at Hobbycraft and the stamp is, of course, Paperartsy.

Here is the front of the box:

Stamps are Paperartsy and Prima (the wings), the lock from the sizzix alteration die.

And here are the other three sides:

Cant remember what make the clock stamp is on the cut out clock or the one behind it - since I have demounted my stamps from their blocks, and probably also because I have sooooo many stamps, I am starting to forget where some of them come from - I did write most of the makes next to them when putting them into A4 binders but some slipped through the net.....

The birdie is from the Sizzix Alteration birdcage die and I have just noticed that the poor thing hasn't got an eye - better go and remedy that!  Stamp is Paperartsy.

the Time is eternity circle stamp is Non Sequitor (how fab are they!) and the butterflies from a punch. As usual distress inks were involved! Whole thing only took a couple of hours - very impressive I thought!

Thanks for looking :)

Birthday card

Have been busy making this card for my father in law:

Have used frayed burlap, rusty hinge, walnut stain, black soot and spiced marmalade distress inks along with dried marigold and tea dye distress embossing powders, a bronze embossing powder and stamps from Prima and Paperartsy.  The bird, key and lock have been cut out using the new sizzix alterations dies.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenge:

My birthday bunting

A while ago I threw out all the birthday banners in our house in the hope that it would spur me on to make new ones for everyone, so when it came to my turn I thought I would use the new Fairytale collection stamps to make mine.  Inspired by this fabulous tower bookmark http://atouchofmagnolia.blogspot.com/2010/04/longing-tilda.html  I created this:

Again, like the pirate bunting, I have had to photograph it in small chunks as the whole thing stretches as one image and looks silly but I have to say that it looks rather fabulous hanging up in my lounge!  I have to confess that the whole thing took me ages particularly as I had half done it before I remembered the Paperartsy castle stamps I had so I just had to redo the middle wall sections and incorporate them into the bunting!

Stamps used are Paperartsy, Prima (one of the butterflies), Elzybells (George and the Dragon), Making Memories (the text on the smaller flags) and Magnolia which are coloured in with Promarkers, lots of distress inks, stickles and glimmer mists have also been used so its actually very sparkly in real life.  Flowers - some are bought but most are made from the Tim Holtz tattered flower die.  Have used some prima pearls, sizzixed swirls and clouds and the letters spelling out my name are Primas flocked alphabet from our Paper {NV} kit.  Also the ivy leaves are cut using a new Docrafts punch that I treated myself to last week.  Its all held together with hemp which I died using pine needles distress ink.

Also for those that know me I hope you have all noticed that there isn't a pirate or mushroom in sight!

Thanks for looking :)

Oooh I won a challenge!

How exciting is that!  There was a three way tie over at http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/ where myself and two others won challenge number 68 (for the card on the post below) - congratulations girls!

Am just back from a little holiday in Chester so am hoping for a quietish day in to catch up on the 5 or so loads of washing and to also finish my birthday bunting - need to be quick about it though as its my birthday tomorrow!  whoo hooo
